The Vale of Aylesbury Athletic Club is community based Club, run by volunteers. We are extremely fortunate to have a strong group of people onboard, but there are a few vacancies which need to be filled if we are to continue to run the Club in an efficient way.
We appreciate that most people have busy lives, but if you could please consider helping out, we would be most grateful.
Please use the contact form or contact Graham Gorman (01296 420618) or Ann Taylor (01280 824378) to get in touch.
The vacancies are:
First Aid Team Leader - although we have several of our members who are first aid trained, we need one person to take responsibility for keeping the Club’s kit updated; recruiting new First Aiders as and when required and enrolling them on Sports First Aid Courses. We would appreciate it if the volunteer was prepared to travel to athletics meetings occasionally across the South East on weekends. Lifts are usually available.
Skills: We are looking for a volunteer who is trained in Sports First Aid with some experience behind them. We would send this person on courses to update skills as and when necessary. Good people skills would be an advantage.
Young Athletes Management Group Chairman - this role would be looking after the interests of the young athletes (age 8 up to and including U20). It involves coaching, small admin jobs such as minutes of meetings, and sourcing new equipment. It is an important and yet fairly informal position. The final duty is chairing monthly YAMG meetings which usually last for a couple of hours in a local hostelry!
Skills: we are looking for a volunteer with a love of athletics across track and field. Coaching qualifications up to Level 2 would be an advantage, with an organised mind and good people skills.
Coaching Assistants: Falcons - we are looking for two Assistants to work with our Falcons Group on a Tuesday evening only. The Falcons are younger athletes aged from 10-12 years covering a variety of track and field events.
Skills: - we are looking for volunteers who enjoy athletics and are full of enthusiasm. They will work alongside our existing coaches, and although coaching experience would be good, it is not essential. Volunteers will be sent on relevant courses where required.
Coaching Assistants: Jumps and Throws - we are looking for a Coaching Assistant to work with our Jumps and Throws Coaches on Thursday evening only. The athletes cross a wide age range of both children and adults.

Track and Field Officials – our athletes compete in a variety of Track and Field Leagues from the age of 11 to veteran. We are required to supply officials at these events, and if we do not, points are deducted. The job involves timing races and measuring field events, e.g. long jump, discus etc. The League meetings take place across the South East, usually at weekends and lifts are usually available. We would like to think the volunteer would come to the Club on training nights to get to know the athletes.
Skills: we are looking for a volunteer with a love of athletics across track and field, ideally with appropriate experience. However, full training can be supplied.
