Two Vale athletes competed in the Buckingham 10K on Sunday 16th October 2016. The race is described as a multi terrain route which starts in the market square & heads out along Stowe Avenue, an undulating part of the course which makes for a challenging run. It then enters the beautiful Stowe Landscape Gardens, a National Trust Property deigned by Capability Brown, taking in the Palladium Bridge alongside the beautiful temples and lake. The race concludes with a return along Stowe Avenue and back to the finish line in the market square.
The rainy weather made for some slippery conditions on some of the woodland type paths, but it didn’t deter 370 runners taking part.
This year runners ran with chip timing and Richard Bazeley was the first Vale athlete home in 11th place & a time of 41:15. Asked for his reaction, Richard said “It’s certainly not my fastest time but I’m glad I managed to place well for the Club.”
Alan Roberts ran a time of 49:46 finishing 56th overall & 7th in his age category.
