TrainingThe VOAAC is a very active club with a full complement of groups catering for all the athletic disciplines at all levels from aged 8 upwards. For further details on specific groups please see the sections in the menu on the left. General club training takes place at the Stadium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7.00pm, generally for 1 hour. Other groups, such as the beginners and the strength and conditioning take place on other days and during the winter some training takes place indoors. Sunday MorningsTraining takes place on Sunday mornings where previously arranged. If you would like to train on a Sunday morning please see your coach or the director of coaching, Nick Taylor. NOTE: Sunday training will be unavailable or affected on the following days in 2010: 13th June Tour De Vale all day 8-10 yearsA thriving junior section starts with the Kestrels. Boys and Girls from ages 8 to 10 enjoy fun athletics where the emphasis is on enjoyment rather than competition. Kestrels meet at 7pm in the club hut on either a Tuesday or Thursday. The Kestrels are supervised by coaches who are specially qualified to work with young children. All our coaches have been police checked in accordance with the Child Protection Act and the Club has a written Child Protection Policy (available on request) 11-13 yearsThe Induction Group gives these young club members an all round introduction to athletic events. Qualified coaches start to introduce skills and training techniques and the boys and girls can now compete for the Club's very successful Young Athletics and Cross Country League Teams . 14-19 yearsBy this age athletes have started to specialise in their chosen events. Qualified coaches will instruct in skills and training techniques aimed at achieving success at league, county, area or national level according to ability. Under 20's compete in the National Junior Athletic League. 20+ yearsAthletes can choose which events / training groups they wish to participate in subject to availability and group sizes. Various competitions around the country are open and there is a successful Senior Mens team.
Senior and Veteran AthletesThe Club has a very successful Men's team who compete in the Southern League and the Chiltern Cross Country League as well as many road races. A ladies team has also now been formed and will be competing this summer. Strength and ConditioningRun on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7pm in the Club hut.
