Club training nights are on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7:00pm.  The majority of our squads train outdoors at Stoke Mandeville Stadium all year round, but during the winter (November - March) we arrange indoor facilities to accommodate our younger groups. Some squads also train at the weekend.

Before and after each training session, the athletes are taken through a number of stretches and warm up drills by coaches to be ready for training, and they warm down after a training session which helps to prevent injuries.

We offer a variety of training squads which are co-ordinated by a number of UKA qualified coaches:

Kestrels (8-10 yrs)

A programme  providing  a fun and stimulating beginning to athletics within all abilities.  Please ensure all Kestrel Athletes meet in the ClubHut for registration.

Tuesday Night

Development Group (11-13 yrs)

Once youngsters have completed their induction to Athletics the Kestrels they are moved up to the Development Group and train in a range of athletics events until confident to move to an event group (detailed below).

Beginner/Improver Running Group

A beginner/improver running group (for adults and young people aged 16 and over) meets at the club hut on a Wednesday at 7.00pm.
