Two of our Senior athletes have represented Great Britain in another Masters event, this time the European Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland.

Alan Roberts took part in the 800m, 1500m and 3k as well as the 3k walk which was a straight final. There were also two outdoor events, a 5k cross country and 5k walk. Brenda Russell took part in four of the throwing events.

As a long distance runner, 800m and 1500m are almost sprints to Alan! Nevertheless he attacked all events with gusto finishing 6th in the 800m heat in 2:42:39 and 9th in the 1500m in 5:24:12. In the 3k events, he was 12th in the run in 11:29:72 and 10th in the walk in 18:52:93.

In the longer events which are getting closer to his normal distances, he was 24th in the cross country (17:47:20) and won a team bronze medal in the Over 50 category behind Poland and Germany. He then finished 13th in the road walk (31:59:70) winning a team silver behind Spain. He is delighted with his walk time which takes almost 4 minutes off of his pb..

Brenda finished 7th in the 7.26k weight throw (8.91m); 6th in the Hammer throw (29.78m); 7th in the Discus (16.11m) and 11th in the Shot Putt (6.77m).
