Sunday 21st January brought a new type of competition for many of our U11 athletes in the shape of the Buckinghamshire Sportshall U11 championships. Held in Winslow, our U11’s went through a series events to collect points that would be added together to gain an overall pentathlon score. We had a good turnout and some excellent results.
On the girls side we had some stand out performances from Thea McKenzie and Lily Sexton. Thea came 5th in the standing long jump with a jump of 1.77m. Lily Sexton came 4th in the balance test with a time of 51 seconds. A massive well done to Caitlin Johnston, Lily Sexton, Poppy Alder, Rosemary Yau, Shona Esslemont and Thea McKenzie for competing.
We also had some stand-out performances from Chibuikem Eke, Jacob Scott, Ennis Cann, Devon Powell, Sollie Wells, Griffin Leaner and Dexter Kann. Chibuikem Eke came 2nd in standing long jump (2.04m), 5th in standing triple jump (5.60m), 5th in soft javelin (16m), 4th in chest push (5.25m) and finished 8th overall. Jacob Scott finished 5th in standing long jump (1.92m), 1st in the balance test (51 seconds) and finished 5th overall. Ennis Cann finished 2nd in the balance test with a time of 49 seconds. Devon Powell finished 3rd in the balance test with a time of 45 seconds and finished 10th overall. Sollie Wells finished 3rd in the soft javelin with a throw of 16.50m and he finished 5th in the balance test with a time of 39 seconds. Griffin Learner (who is only a year 4) finished second in the soft javelin with 16.50m and Dexter Kann Finished 4th in the 2 lap run with a time of 26.4 seconds. A massive well done to Cooper Paul, Dexter Kann, Ennis Cann, Griffin Leaner, Hashim Shah, Josh Faller, Rohan Martin, Sollie Wells, Tom Hanbridge and Zane Hmaidi. Congratulations to Chibuikem Eke, Jacob Scott and Devon Powell for earning a spot of the Buckinghamshire team.
A massive thank you to Lorraine and all parents who helped out at the competition to ensure the competition ran smoothly. Thank you to all the parents who took their children to Winslow for the competition as well. Well done to everyone who competed on Sunday, you should all be proud of how you competed.
