Saturday the 2nd December saw the third rendition of the Chiltern League series held in Luton.
With temperatures dropping to below freezing overnight a layer of frost had settled over the
fields and created some beautiful scenes to look at while running. As the races drew nearer
a layer of fog had descended on the race course and caused some minor visibility issues. As
a club we didn’t have as many athletes out as the last two times but with multiple under 11’s
choosing to compete at school’s instead and many not wanting to brave the cold we still had
a good number of athletes out competing.

With only two athletes competing for the under 11 girls team the team managed to score
enough points to remain in 14th position after the third round. The team was Poppy Alder
who finished 32nd and Shona Esslemont who, after having ran and won the school race
made the decision to double up and run the chiltern league as well, finished 29th. There was
a bigger turnout on the boys side with the under 11’s team: Devon Powell (24th), Dexter
Kann (33rd), Cooper Paul (40th), Tom Hanbidge (42nd), Jenson Bloxham (43rd) George
Collins (46th), Lachlan Wiseman (49th), Harvey Barnett (53rd) and Ennis Cann (56th) who
all helped the team to finish 7th in the round and sees them move up to 4th after 3 rounds.
The under 13 girls team only just had enough for a team: Gabriella Cheung (11th), Sophie
Fawcett (16th), Tilly Valind (24th) and Emma Storey (29th) helped the team to finish 5th in
the round and sees them stay in 5th in the league. The under 13 boys team had a bigger
turnout with: Zachary Honour (12th), Luca Dolan (13th), James Clifford (30th), James
Rendell (39th), George Lloyd (41st), Jonny Peel (47th), Arthur Morley (48th) and Peter
Cheung (57th) helping the team to finish 6th in the round and keep them 6th after 3 rounds.
Another small turnout from the under 15 girls team: Sarah Cintalova (18th), Holly Dennis
(34th), Eleni Brown (36th), Leia Logan (38th) and Natalie Massey (43rd) helped the team to
8th in the round and stay in 8th after 3 rounds. The under 15 boys faced a small turnout as
well with: Joseph Storey (16th), Lucas Garner (17th), Mikolaj Rozacka (34th) and Digby
Martin (35th) who all helped the team to 6th in the round and helped them keep 7th place in
the league.

The under 17 age group faced another small turnout but for the first time this season the
under 17 women’s team had a full team: Lucy Cuthbert (23rd), Seren Young (24th) and Iona
Esslemont (25th) seeing the team to 9th in the round and keeps them in 10th after 3 rounds.
With only 2 athletes in the under 17 men’s team: Archie Lynch (17th) and Rhys Williams
(30th) helped the team to score some valuable points and finished 6th in the round and
places them in 7th after 3 rounds.

A smaller turnout from the senior women this time round saw: Alice Rolfe (13th), Sarah
Pearse (40th), Amanda Esslemont (68th), Victoria Sheldon (95th), Sue Barnes (114th),
Heather Fallaize (119th) and Pat Card (136th) help the team 12th in the round and puts
them in 11th after 3 rounds. The veterans team finished 12th in the round and are in 10th
after 3 rounds. A bigger turnout from the senior men’s team saw: Kieran Lindars (16th), Mark
Baines (55th), Scott Ramsell (99th), Conor Richardson (118th), Robin Barrett (119th), Adam
Johnson (120th), Andrew Rolt (126th), Tim Jones (153rd), Stephen Parsons (154th), Marcus
Maxwell (172nd), Ben Riley (177th), Mark Richards (190th), Mark Fallaize (195th), Trevor
Lynch (196th) and Alan Roberts (212th) helped the team to 11th in the round and 10th after
3 rounds. The Veterans team finished 15th in the round and are 16th after 3 rounds.

Thank you so much to the athletes and parents who braved the cold to come out and
support and/or race for the club. Even with a smaller turnout this month we still had some
amazing performances and had at least 2 athletes scoring for every age group. A massive
well done to everyone who ran and we hope to see you at Watford in the new year for the
4th round.
