Squad member Kieran Lindars has been selected to compete in the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) World Middle Distance Championships at Daytona on 6th December 2020.
This has been a secret that Kieran Lindars has kept along with a few others (including myself) for the last couple of months. Official confirmation in the last couple of days means that the details can now be made public. This will be the Triathlon event of the year with a now over $1m prize purse.
To give you an idea of how big this event is, Jonny Brownlee and Tim Don only qualified with wild cards (Alistair Brownlee qualified as one of the top 40 Professionals pre-selected).
I asked Kieran for his initial thoughts about his selection and he replied very modestly:
“It’s been a challenging year with constant changes and uncertainty surrounding our lives. This has made it very difficult to stay motivated and to keep consistent. However, as athletes, we are always trying to challenge ourselves. This year has been a great lesson in developing the ability to adapt to changes with very little time. It has also shown us how much we miss sport when it is taken away from us. It’s easy to forget sometimes during hard sessions or poor weather conditions that we are all very lucky to be able to participate in the sports we love with the people we love.” “The second lockdown will really test me being so close to the event. I am confident that with the help from Harry I will be ready to battle against the best in the world”
“Without friction, we can’t move forward”
