Dear Members,

Following a number of contacts over the Christmas period with the Stadium, this is the position the club is in ;

The stadium and with it the track, remain closed and this is unlikely to change until after January 2021. The stadium is reliant on being able to offer all facilities in order to stay open and due to indoor use being closed under Tier 4, the track remains closed with it. Where previously we had hoped to gain access to the track if the indoor area closed, this is complicated by the fact that the stadium is due to be utilised as a Covid vaccination centre and is being prepared for this currently. This means that what staff the Stadium does have on-site are rightly focussed solely on this and until vaccinations begin, they will not know what impact this will have on the facility itself.

In all reality, and return to track training, where permitted, looks unlikely for January 2021, but we remain hopeful for February and we will be working with the Stadium to ensure we can return as soon as possible.

We know this is frustrating, especially as some training is permitted under Tier 4 regulations, but we are sure that all members can fully understand the position the stadium, and with it, the club, find themselves in and will support them in the work they are currently preparing for. We will ensure all members are kept updated as things develop.

We know many coaches have already set training plans for athletes while away from the track and further training will be coming out soon for athletes to carry out at home to prepare them for their return to training before the outdoor season begins in late March.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year and thank you all for your ongoing understanding and support,

VoAAC
