Well done to the three Vale athletes who took part in the Reading Half Marathon on 3rd April.  In sunny conditions, the race, which is relatively flat, finished in the Madejski Stadium, and attracted over eleven thousand runners, with 10,980 completing the course.

The event was first run in 1983 and is now a well established favourite in the run up to the London Marathon which takes place towards the end of the month.

Richard Bazeley continues to run well and finished in 315th spot in a time of 1:25:15; Charlotte Steptoe was our first lady to complete the course in 454th spot with a time of 1:28:07.  Terry Gadsby ran her first Half Marathon and finished in 2:27:56.

The men’s race was won by Robert Mbithi in 1:03:57, and first lady to finish was Jenny Nesbitt in 1:12:54 who had never run a half marathon before and confessed to not really knowing how to run one before!
