Fourteen Vale of Aylesbury athletes took part in this weekend’s Quadkids competition in very wet conditions at Horspath Road, Oxford. Competition was again fierce with over 100 children from a variety of Clubs taking part, and Vale’s athletes put in some great performances across the four events of 75m, 600m, Vortex throw and Long Jump.
Although the weather made it a difficult day for personal best performances, the tone for a successful day was set by Rocharne Manning, Emilia Rock and Ffion Mabey who all cruised to heat wins over 75m. This was followed by Emilia Rock also winning her 600m heat in the fastest time of the day and Corben Atterbury finishing a good 3rd in his 600m heat. Rocharne, Ethan Perry, Iona Royce & Ffion continued the good 600m performances with strong showings. Fastest finish of the day in the 600m easily went to Logan Davies who will have learned plenty about pacing his run!
Vale athletes finished in the medals at the end of the competition. Emilia Rock won the Gold Medal for both 75m & 600m plus overall bronze in the under 11 Girls Event & Corben Atterbury carried on the tradition of under 11 boys performing well at Oxford with overall bronze in the under 11 age group. There was a great turn out by both athletes and parents and fantastic performances and effort by everyone involved.
