The re-scheduled Oxfordshire County Club Championships took place at RAF Harwell this weekend; the event was incorporated into the season’s final Oxford Mail XC League match.
Christian von Eitzen took part in the boys U17 race for the Championships and was invited to run in the Oxford Mail event as a guest. Conditions were cold and windy, though the course was firm fortunately, so Christian elected to wear trainers instead of spikes; ironic then that someone wearing spikes slipped and spiked Christian’s leg, albeit superficially.
Christian and Nathan Gillis lead the race from the outset and were together for most of the race. It was only Christian’s strength and strong finish which allowed him to pull away at the end; the third place athlete was almost 40 seconds behind Gillis.
Well done Christian, another title to add to the list!
