Christian von Eitzen’s track season is going from strength to strength. The 17 year old is keen to break 1:50 for 800m this year and his work rate has been superb. Cheered on by his squad and with Patrick Taylor as his pacemaker, coach Harry Czapski timed him unofficially at 1:50:5 at training last week, and then travelled to Osterode in Germany for a race on Friday evening.
Christian was very happy with his run with an official time of 1:50:15, but frustrated that he was momentarily blocked with 200m to go. The time does however make him the fastest 17 year old in Europe at the moment and 4th fastest in the world. A timekeeper at the event assured Christian that if he had not been blocked he would have clocked approximately 1:49:5.
