With April’s London Marathon looming, it is the season of the half marathon as athletes’ training progresses. Vale runners are no exception and this weekend we had competitors at both Reading and Silverstone.
Reading is of course a huge event with over 14,000 competitors completing the race this year. Vale’s first to cross the line was Sean Bowler who is delighted with a new PB of 1:17:32. He finished in in 146th place. James Davis finished in 1:33:16 and for our ladies, Jo Card came away with a PB finishing in 1:42:52. Jo was a happy lady afterwards; “My race went according to plan and the conditions were fairly good, though a bit windy. I have never finished a road race in a stadium before which was just amazing.”
Meanwhile back on local territory, four Vale athletes headed to the Silverstone half. Phil Corbett ran a season’s best to finish 50th in 82:36, with Rob Taylor not far behind in 82:52 which is a new PB for him. Richard Bazeley completed the course in 89:31 and Alan Roberts in 90:36.
