Jess Hunter is on top of the world! She recently competed as a guest in the 60m hurdles at the Welsh International indoor event in Cardiff and ran a new PB of 8.47s which puts her as No 1 in the UK this year. Her time was just 0.02 outside the competition record and is only 0.04 slower than Jessica Ennis-Hill ran at her age. It also means that she is now ranked No 20 on the all-time U20 60m hurdles rankings.
Jess won her first race at the event and came a close second in the next, but beat all the England and Welsh Internationals in both races. She was taking part as a guest of England Athletics and will now concentrate on working to qualify for the U20 European Championships GB team. Although Jess is a multi-eventer Scott Grace, says that she is starting to focus on Sprint Hurdles but is likely to do other events later in the season.
Jess had a great 2014 track season winning the silver medal at the English Schools Championships and it looks like 2015 is going to be a great one for her too. Click on the link to watch Jess’ race.
