Hertforshire 10k

Vale athlete Grace Rowland competed in the Hertforshire 10k in Stevenage on Sunday 3rd November. She finished in a fantastic 3rd position, just one second behind 2nd place, in 44mins 14secs.

Telford 10K

One week after her Half Marathon and high jump exploits, Grace travelled up north for the Telford 10k. She finished in a PB time of 43mins 27seconds to finish 144th female overall. Well done Grace!

Teardrop Chiltern League

The second race in the Chiltern League occurred on the 9th of November at Teardrop Lakes. It was a cold and grey day but we still had a brilliant turnout from our athletes. 

We had a much better turnout from the U11’s this round which is noticeable in the girls team finishing 5th in the round and moving up to 6th after 2 rounds. Well done to Shona (10th), Poppy (20th), Annabelle (29th), Aria (32nd), Ella (37th) and Nicole (38th). It was a good turnout for the boys as well who once again finished 5th in the round helping the stay 5h after 2 rounds. Well done to Bailey (12th), Barnaby (17th), Freddie (22nd), Jenson (28th), Tom (30th), Cooper (33rd) and Charlie (38th).

A slightly smaller turnout for the U13 girls saw Edie (54th), Myriam (55th) and Shannon (56th) help gain points to place them 9th after 2 rounds. An excellent turnout from the U13 boys saw them finish 4th in the round and move up to 4th place after 2 rounds. Well done to Luca (2nd), Joe (18th), Andrin (22nd), Peter (24th), George (35th), Devon (45th), Dexter (50th), Rohan (51st) and Joshua (60th).

We had a strong turn out from both the U15 teams saw the girls team stay in 7th and the boys team moved to 8th. Well done to Gabriella (15th), Sophie (25th), Alessia (33rd), Leia (36th), Tilly (38th), Annabel (39th), Tais (41st) and Mariia (42nd) on the girls side and Zachary (11th), Josh (26th), Jack (39th), Digby (40th), James C (41st), James R (45th), Tom (46th) and Nicolas (48th) on the boys side. 

In the U17/20 women’s race Lucy (33rd) and Iona (41st) helped the team into 9th after 2 rounds. On the U17 men’s side we had Seth (7th), Joseph (27th), Rhys (37th) and Stanley (42nd) who helped the team remain 5th after 2 rounds. 

We had a similar turnout from our seniors with some brilliant results. Well done to Sophie Delderfield (13th), Chloe Pollard (72nd), Amanda Esslemont (78th), Victoria Sheldon (113th) and Heather Fallaize (129th) who helped the team to finish 14th after 2 rounds and the Veteran women’s team to 9th. On the senior men’s side, well done to Nathan Jones (8th), Peter Huck (15th), Evan Anderson (72nd), Mark Baines (85th), Mark Fallaize (121st), Conor Richardson (128th), Andrew Rolt (133rd), Ben Riley (138th), Adam Johnson (150th), Stephen Parsons (162nd), Marcus Maxwell (176th), Tim Jones (214th), Trevor Lynch (237th), Alan Roberts (238th) and Andrew Byerley (241st). These results saw the senior men’s team finish in 11th in the round and 9th after 2 rounds and the veteran men’s team finish 15th after 2 rounds. 

Overall it was another good turnout from the club that saw many brilliant resits from the athletes. We would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents who brought their children and to the parents who brought the ten for our athletes to use. Finally a massive well done to all of the athletes for competing and we hope to see all of you out again at the next one in Luton. 

BBO County Champs

On the 17th of November we had 5 athletes competing at the Berks, Bucks & Oxon xc championships at Broughton Castle. It was a challenging course but we had some brilliant results from your athletes. Well done to Peter (20th) and GEorge (23rd) in the U13 boys race, Gabriella (9th) in the U15 girls race, Joshua (22nd) in the U15 boys race and Lucy (8th) in the U20 Women’s race. 

Silverstone Runfest

On the 24th of November we had athletes competing at 2 races. The first of these races was the Silverstone Runfest where we had 3 athletes battling storm Bert to compete. In the 5k we had U11 George who ran a brilliant time of 24:30 and finished 69th out of 687. In the 10k we had 2 athletes who both ran brilliantly considering the conditions. Rhys ran a time of 40:04 and finished 37th out of 1983 and Lucy ran a time of 48:01 and finished 228th out of 1983. Both Rhys and Lucy came 4th in the U20 category as well. Well done to all 3 athletes for battling the strong winds, rain and. delayed start and still produced some brilliant performances. 

Eynsham 10k

The second race that still went ahead despite the storm on the 24th was the Eynsham 10k. We had 5 athletes competing. Well done to Marcus Maxwell (115th), Richard Day (122nd), Tim Jones (131st), Trevor Lynch (177th) and Alan Roberts (228th). These are some brilliant results and they all ran brilliant times considering the high winds. 

Luton Chiltern League

We had the third Chiltern League on the 30th of November which was held at Luton. Fortunately, the weather held off and we were left with a pleasant day for cross country running. 

It was another brilliant turnout from our U11’s with Chloe (11th), Shona (14th), Poppy (28th), Annabelle (32nd), Aria (33rd), Grace (35th), Ayethra (39th) and Nicole (41st) helping the team to 6th in both the round and after 3 rounds. Our U11 boys team made up of Barnaby (16th), George (26th), Tom (29th), Jenson (32nd), Oscar (33rd) and Charlie (36th) helped the team to 8th in the round and 5th after 3. 

We had a small turnout from the U13 girls with a sole runner. Well done to Malin (48th) who scored some vital points to keep the team in 9th after 3 rounds. Compared to the girls we had a much better turnout from the boys with Luca (1st), Peter (19th), Andrin (23rd), Joe (27th), George (31st), Charlie (32nd), Devon (46th) and Dexter (47th) who helped the team to 5th after 3 rounds.  

In the U15’s, the girls had a team of 5 competing with Gabriella (13th), Annabelle (36th), Annabel (37th), Tais (39th) and Mariia (40th) meaning they are 8th after the first 3 rounds. The boys had 4 athletes competing with Zachary (20th), James C (29th), James R (39th) and Nicolas in 41st seeing them finish 8th on the day and 8th currently after 3 rounds.

Lucy (39th) was the only Vale competitor in the U17/U20 women’s race leaving the team in 9th after 3 rounds. The U17 men performed well with Seth (7th), Joseph (24th) and Rhys (34th) seeing them finish joint 4th on the day and 5th overall after 3 rounds.

Our senior women had 4 turnout with Chloe Pollard (42nd), Amanda Esslemont (68th), Heather Fallaize (113th) and Sue Barnes (121st.) The senior women and vet women are 14th and 13th respectively after 3 rounds.

The usual strong turnout for the senior men saw Nathan Jones (8th), Euan Anderson (47th), Mark Baines (57th), Andrew Rolt (106th), Ben Riley (116th), Stephen Parsons (134th), Mark Fallaize (135th), Adam Johnson (142nd), Tim Jones (164th) and Alan Roberts (194th). The senior men’s team finished 12th in the round but drop to 11th after 3 rounds and the veterans finished 14th after 3 rounds. 

Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon

Three Vale athletes took on the Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon on Sunday 8th December with James Davis finishing in a fantastic 2nd place with a time of 1hour 14mins 12secs. Grace Rowland (24th female) completing the course in 1hour 35mins 40secs on her debut at the distance. The final Vale athlete to finish was Richard Day in a time of 1hour 36mins 11secs seeing him finish as 3rd vet 60. Well done to all 3! Later that day, Grace then travelled up to Loughborough to compete in an indoor high jump competition, clearing 1.25m in the process!
