Henrick Hartmann and Debbie Channer aren’t strangers to a bit of European travel for a marathon and last weekend they took themselves off to Copenhagen. They went with different goals; Henrik always suffers with cramp over the marathon distance and was hoping to break 3hrs 30m. Debbie was chasing the elusive 3hrs 15m that is the Women’s Championship qualifying time. The weather conditions were good, if a little warm at 20 degrees, but the two lap course is reputed to be flat and fast. Both came away with great performances. Despite having to stop 5 times with cramp, Henrik ran his best marathon to date, his time of 3:24:12 smashed his PB by almost 7 minutes. Debbie too had a great race, beating her PB by over 4 minutes and finishing in a time of 3:12:33, placing her 4th in her age group and 2nd British lady, not to mention inside the badly wanted qualifying time!
