Well done to Richard Bazeley who took part in The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in Hyde Park London on Sunday 11 October. His time of 1:23:38 was a PB of almost 2 minutes.
Richard reports that it was a great day for the run with cool autumn temperatures absent rain but the sun was still shining. Here is his course report for anyone interested in taking part next year.
“This is a nice flat course starting next to Hyde Park near Knightsbridge. The first half of the race has the big city feel running past Hyde Park Corner, through Green Park, past Buckingham Palace onto Birdcage Walk towards Westminster, along Embankment where you pass the London Eye. A 180 turn brings you back along Embankment turning right onto Whitehall & then towards Nelsons column on Trafalgar Square, left under Admiralty arch and along The Mall towards Buckingham Palace again. The second 10k is run predominantly on the footpaths in Hyde Park & is a very scenic Run in the Royal Park & of course what was home to the London 2012 Olympic Triathlon. Afterwards in Hyde Park is food festival area. Unfortunately the race didn’t have a UKA license in place so PO10 are not accepting the results to be added to athletes’ profiles, but hopefully they might rectify that for next year. Overall a well organised race with great PB potential being so flat.”
