Vale athletes took part in this weekend’s ESAA Regional Cross Country Final held in Milton Keynes. They were running for their schools, Aylesbury High School and Aylesbury Grammar School with the Junior teams from both schools making it through to the National Final to be held in Newquay, Cornwall on 29 November.
In the Junior Girls’ race, one spectator told us that Lucy Perkins ran a truly fantastic race for Aylesbury High School looking calm and focussed. Lucy is in the first year of this age category so to finish 12th was a wonderful result. Lucy reported the course as awful; the runners could see the finish throughout the whole race in dry but blustery conditions. Congratulations to the AHS girls who won their team event.
In the intermediate girls’ race, Vale’s Tilly Green and Bronwen Reed took part finishing 17th and 26th respectively in the race with the team finishing 4th overall.
Vale of Aylesbury Junior boys were also on top form for AGS. Max Perry finished in 2nd place after a sprint finish against the boy who finished 2nd last year. Ben Lindars and Matthew Rizzo-Naudi were also part of the team finishing 28th and 30th helping the school team to finish 2nd overall to claim their place in the Nationals.
The Intermediate boys came in a respectable 7th position, Matthew Bird and Alex Rice were the only two Vale athletes competing for AGS.
